This is the last part of the Clinical Program kinesiology triad. Normal and abnormal occurrences
of the lower extremities will be studied in depth along with their relationship to muscle fiber
manipulation. Structure and function will correlate with soft tissue conditions and
pathologies that are commonly seen in a professional setting.

This is the last part of the Clinical Program kinesiology triad. Normal and abnormal occurrences
of the lower extremities will be studied in depth along with their relationship to muscle fiber
manipulation. Structure and function will correlate with soft tissue conditions and
pathologies that are commonly seen in a professional setting.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of Kinesiology of the Lower Extremities, students should be able to:
1. Discuss the kinesiology of the lower extremity as it relates to the entire body.
2. Describe the unique features of the joints and muscles of the lower extremities.
3. Demonstrate accurate palpation skills for locating and assessing soft tissue structures in
the lower extremity.
4. Discuss the various musculoskeletal conditions related to the lower extremity and the
massage implications for them.
5. Accurately assess the length of the muscles of the lower extremities, and demonstrate
appropriate muscle lengthening techniques for the same muscles.
